Knowing this process can be key for many, considering that since July 2021 the unlimited storage of Google Photos ended, Gmail users have been forced to share the 15 GB of storage with photos and videos that previously did not count within these restrictions.

Also, keep in mind that if your storage capacity runs out, not only will you not be able to upload files to Google Drive or share images in Google Photos, but you will also stop receiving emails, so it is important to keep your account free of unnecessary items.

How to bulk delete emails in Gmail

Step 1: Choose a category

The simplest way is to choose the category where the emails you want to delete are located. It can be the inbox (Main) or the emails that are automatically sorted into the Social or Promotions labels (or whatever you prefer).

Step 2: select visible emails

Then you must press the checkbox located between the search bar and the tabs, which will allow you to select all the messages available on the page.

Step 3: select all messages

However, as this process only selects the 100 emails, if you have more emails that you wish to delete, you must press the message that will indicate if you wish to select all the available preservations in that particular category.

Step 4: delete the messages

When you have done so, press the delete button, which is located in the main menu. Click OK, when Gmail asks you if you want to proceed with the bulk deletion process.

If you have only a few emails, the process may be instantaneous. However, it should take no more than 30 seconds if you have about 20,000 emails, as in the example above.

Once Gmail has finished deleting the emails, a notification will appear telling you that the messages were sent to the trash.

Step 5: Empty the Trash

If you don’t want to wait the 30 days for the system to delete them automatically, you can do it manually by going to the Trash folder and clicking on the Empty Trash now link, which is located in the middle of the screen.

That’s it. You have now freed up an important part of your Gmail storage quota. Remember that you can repeat this process as many times as necessary, according to the folders you want to empty.
